I am a Mechanical Engineering student at The Ohio State University and I'm in a Biomechanical Engineering Senior Design class. I am working on a group project designing a gait trainer for children with Cerebral Palsy. We are competing in the Honda iDream Competition in the category for mobility. We hope that if we win this contest, our project, with Honda's support, will spread more knowledge out to people who do not know what Cerebral Palsy is and how more research needs to go into helping to design mobility devices for children with walking impairments.

We need EVERYONE to vote for us (multiple times if possible!!).

Click on the link below to go to our webpage:

Then click the big yellow "VOTE for Us!" button on the right side of your screen

Please forward this to everyone you know! (relatives, friends, co-workers, etc.)

Thank you, we appreciate all of your support!! We hope to make a difference.

<summary type="html">I can recall one incident in grade-school that really put me to the test. Being liked by my peers was not the main struggle I had, even though that did play a major roll in my life. I'll brush up more about that later on with you. One afternoon in a gym-class, the objective was to practice for the forty-yard dash. As the class was warming up, the teacher told me that I needed to sit out. Now in those days, I was assisted with a walker, and I also had to wear a brace on my leg. When I heard that...as if I didn't have enough problems already, I asked myself, "Why am I letting this hold me back from doing this"? Seeing those others kids enjoying themselves, I leaned against the front of my walker and off I went; running with the rest of the class. Since I've turned my walker into a "speedracer", I was still dissatisfied with these clamps in my life!

Even though I'm not in need of those devices anymore, Cerebral Palsy still had me trapt. My disabily, or in other words, my physical limitation was still dictating what I was able to do. Just like those support tools, I worked with what I had. The same things goes now, my congenital limitations will not... by any means hold me back! Instead of your disability telling you, "You need to sit out", why don't you just work with what you have, so you can "run with the rest of the class"?

I am not able to answer your question professionally.
I am a resident in Singapore &amp; my elder son has mild CP and we do have Centre with
Professional therapy who handle well in their service. I couldn't tell if US provide a better service than here as
i had never been to US.

If you are still interested to find out, you may email me at " oclleon@yahoo.com ".
I may get the appropriate centre(runs by the govenment ) to keep in touch with you.

The only advise i would like to provide is that, it may not be cheap for non citizen.
If money is not a concern to you, i am confident that Singapore does provide a good Centre to support people with CP.
